About this tour

This is a five-day group safari with a maximum of 6–7 clients, conducted in a custom safari jeep with a pop-up roof and accompanied by a driver/guide and chef. The tour explores the famous Northern Circuit parks, offering a well-balanced mix of wildlife viewing and relaxation.

You will spend 2 days and 1 night in the Serengeti, the largest park in Tanzania, renowned for its annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest alongside 250,000 zebras. The Ngorongoro Crater is the highlight of the tour, famous for its breathtaking landscapes and unique wildlife viewing from the crater floor. Tarangire National Park, often described as a smaller Serengeti, is famous for its large elephant population. This itinerary allows ample time for game drives and wildlife observation, ideal for travelers passionate about exploring animals.

Day 5: Materuni Waterfalls & Coffee Tour
On the final day, immerse yourself in Tanzania’s great outdoors with a full-day tour to Materuni Waterfalls, perfect for culture enthusiasts and active travelers. Begin with a hike to the waterfalls and enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural pool. Afterwards, visit a local farm to learn about Tanzania’s coffee industry. This tour includes round-trip transportation from your Arusha or Moshi hotel, as well as lunch.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Game Drive in Tarangire

You will be picked up from your hotel and, after meeting your guide and chef, drive about 2 hours to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its diverse landscapes. The park is famous for its ancient Baobab trees and the largest elephant population in Tanzania, providing excellent opportunities to observe elephant families interacting.

Your game drive will follow areas with reported wildlife sightings, focusing on predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, while herbivores like giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest are abundant throughout the park.

At midday, stop at the Tarangire River picnic site to enjoy lunch while taking in the river views and nearby wildlife. Playful monkeys and baboons may approach your meal, but there is no need to worry.

After lunch, continue your game drive until around 4:30 pm, then exit the park and drive to Mto Wa Mbu for an overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 2: Mto wa mbu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart from Mto Wa Mbu and drive approximately 6 hours to the Serengeti National Park, passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Stop 1: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Briefly stop at the gate and viewpoint to enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the crater.
Duration: 20 minutes

Stop 2: Maasai Village (Optional)
You may choose to visit a traditional Maasai village to explore the culture of this iconic tribe. Historically, Maasai warriors hunted lions and drank raw animal blood, though most of these practices are no longer common, except for blood drinking. This visit offers insight into Maasai heritage.

Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti spans 14,750 square kilometers (5,700 sq mi) and is famous for the annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest alongside 250,000 zebras, which rely on this strategic partnership for survival. Your focus will be the Seronera area (central Serengeti).

Arrive in the late afternoon, enjoy lunch, and then head out for an evening game drive in Seronera. Experience the stunning Serengeti sunset while observing wildlife, with the chance to witness a predator on the hunt. Return to Seronera Campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Serengeti to Ngorongoro

Wake up early at 6:00 am and enjoy a hot cup of coffee before departing the campsite for a morning game drive in the heart of Serengeti National Park. Take in the beautiful sunrise while spotting wildlife, and remember to bring warm clothing, as it can be chilly in the early morning.

Continue the game drive until midday, then return to camp for a full breakfast and lunch (brunch). Later, depart the camp and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying a game drive along the way. Arrive at Simba Campsite in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

On your final day of the safari, after breakfast and packing a picnic lunch, take a short drive to the crater descent gate and head down 650 meters to the crater floor for a half-day game drive. With some luck, you may spot a rhinoceros. The crater is home to many permanent resident animals, as its year-round water sources make it an ideal habitat, though wildlife is free to move in and out.

After lunch, ascend back to the crater rim, then drive back to Arusha, marking the end of your Tanzania safari.

Materuni Waterfalls & Coffee Tour

Materuni is the home of the Chagga tribe and remains an authentic tribal village. Located just 15 km from Moshi Town, it is the last village before entering Kilimanjaro National Park.

In the morning, you will be picked up by an English-speaking guide who will drive you to Materuni Village. Upon arrival, you will register at the village office, and your adventure begins.

Your first stop is the Materuni Waterfalls, approximately a 40-minute walk from the village. Along the way, your guide will share insights about Chagga culture, village life, and the surrounding flora and fauna. The views are breathtaking, and on a clear day, you may catch a glimpse of Kilimanjaro’s summit. The waterfall itself is over 80 meters high, with a refreshing pool at its base—perfect for a swim, so don’t forget your swimwear!

After enjoying the scenery, return to Materuni village for a traditional Chagga lunch. You will also have the chance to sample local banana beer, a must-try cultural experience.

Coffee Experience
Next, enjoy a hands-on coffee tour. Learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted, and processed. You will even help with the traditional grinding of the coffee, accompanied by Chagga songs and dances, providing a fun and immersive cultural experience. Before concluding the tour, savor the coffee you prepared while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding rainforest.
