Hiking Time:

5–7 hours

Start your Kilimanjaro adventure at the Machame Gate, located at 1,800m on the southern slope. After registration and a briefing, you’ll trek through a lush rainforest filled with ancient trees, moss, and wildlife like colobus monkeys. Arrive at Machame Camp in the late afternoon, where you’ll rest and enjoy your first night under the stars.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,840m)

Hiking Time:

Habitat:

Semi-desert

This is a vital acclimatization day. You’ll ascend to Lava Tower (4,600m), a dramatic volcanic structure, then descend to Barranco Camp. Hiking Time:

4–5 hours

Distance:

5 km

Hiking Time:

3–4 hours

Distance:

4 km

Habitat:

Alpine desert

A steady uphill climb leads to Barafu Camp, your base before summit night. Arrive early for rest, hydration, and a final briefing. The terrain is rocky and exposed, with temperatures dropping fast. You’ll go to bed early in preparation for the midnight summit push.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Hiking Time:

12–15 hours

Distance:

17 km

Habitat:

Arctic to rainforest

Summit day begins at midnight. Using headlamps, you’ll ascend to Stella Point (5,756m) and finally reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Watch a breathtaking sunrise over the glaciers. After photos and celebration, begin your long descent via Barafu Camp to Mweka Camp.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640m)

Hiking Time:

3–4 hours

Distance:

10 km

Habitat:

Rainforest

Your final descent takes you back into the rainforest, where the trail can be muddy and slippery. Once at Mweka Gate, you’ll receive your Kilimanjaro climbing certificate. Your driver will transfer you back to Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest.
