Your safari begins in Arusha with an early morning departure to the remote Ngaresero village, located near Lake Natron where the mountain is found. The area features some of Africa’s harshest yet most stunning landscapes and is truly breathtaking. The drive takes about 6 hours, and upon arrival, you will have lunch and rest at your camp in preparation for the climb, which starts around midnight due to the high daytime temperatures.

At around 11 pm, you will be woken up with tea or coffee and a light snack before meeting your mountain guide to begin the night trek. Camping services will be provided for resting.

Day 2: CLimbing Ol Doinyo Lengai and Departure to Arusha

On this day, you will continue your climb in the early hours of the morning, aiming to reach the summit in time to witness the sunrise illuminating the Great Rift Valley below. From the summit, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the salt flats of Lake Natron to the north, the distant Kenyan border, the snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro to the east, and the expansive Ngorongoro Highlands and Ngorongoro Crater to the south.

With your guide, you will explore the peak and have a picnic breakfast at the summit of the active Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano before starting your descent. After climbing down, you will enjoy a refreshing lunch at your campsite or tented camp before returning to Arusha, where your safari concludes upon arrival.
